Since the big D-vorce mountain climbing and hiking has been something Ive enjoyed thinking and sometimes reading about and wanted to do.Outdoor mag has been one of my favorite and most read mags,I even read Jon Krakauers,Into Thin Air,(good read)about a failed Everest expedition.

I suppose its the isolation that attracts me to it.The test of trusting yourself to get out of a possible jam in the middle of nowhere.Be as it may,the girlfriend and I went on our own little Everest expedition this past Saturday.

Everest it wasn't,but we went to the Cascades and scaled our own little mountain. With our legs tired and views of Mt. Adams,Mt. Ranier and the Goat Rocks we enjoyed our summit. The view was beautiful, and I thank God that we're fit enough and willing enough to do the hike to see what I saw.And Im glad that I could share it with the GF. Its cool that she enjoys this kind of stuff too.

So now we're trying to plan a longer hike with some overnite camping envolved.I'd like to hike to a remote alpine lake, stay the night then get up early and do some flyfishing in the early predawn hours.Eat my catch, enjoy the scenier, then hike out.

Hiking is great, you can keep on going all day, so it won't tire you as much as say swimming, or mountainbiking, but you make steady progress, and when you reach the summit of that mountain in the end.. it's great.

I love hiking too, and i wish you good luck on your next trip!

just don't do anything stupid like the dipshit
in that book.

aside from that, i'm glad that you shared this.
it sounds veeeeeeeery nice... and i'm sure its
quite lovely. i'm also glad that your GF is
having a good time too... thats very important.

do you take the camera along?

i'd like to assume 'YES'... but you never know.
besides, it would be great to take snapshots
of all the cool places you see and things you've
done... then reflect back on it when you no
longer can do them (if that ever happens).
